September 28, 2012 (Sacramento): Schools in Sacramento City Unified School District are participating in the first-ever Green Apple Day of Service, an international event sponsored by the Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council.

Hundreds of volunteers will be arriving Saturday morning at Bret Harte Elementary School and Will C. Wood Middle School to clean up gardens, harvest fruits and vegetables and plant flowers.
