May is Mental Health Month, 2023

Overview

Each spring, 黄色视频 joins schools, families, and communities across the U.S. in celebrating #MayIsMentalHealthMonth. During the month of May we intensify our ongoing efforts to raise awareness around mental wellness, and stop stigma around mental illness. We encourage all 黄色视频 staff, students, families, and community members to join us in honoring May is Mental Health Month!

For questions, concerns, or complaints related to Section 504 Accommodations

504 Accommodation Concerns or Complaints ((28 CFR Section 35.107(b); 34 CFR Section 104.7(b))

At times, there may be concerns about 504 Accommodation assessments or implementation of plans.  In the event this occurs we encourage school staff and parents/guardians to bring up these questions or concerns at the school site level. If concerns continue or a resolution cannot be reached, please reach out to the District 504 Coordinator, Noel Estacio at 916-752-3230 or Noel-Estacio@scusd.edu for consultation and mediation.

Overview & History of the 黄色视频 LGBTQ Task Force

In 2003, Sacramento City Unified School District community members lobbied the district to place an emphasis on meeting the needs of LGBTQ+ identified youth. In response, the district passed Board Resolution 2355 (2004) to demonstrate the support of school safety for this population of students.

 

Support for Pregnant & Parenting Students

Overview

Student Support & Health Services (SSHS)鈥� Pregnant and Parenting Students  program is focused on supporting the well-being of 黄色视频 adolescent parents and their babies.  Our goal is to maintain students鈥� academic success and support life skills to enter the world, college or career ready.

Once a student is identified as pregnant or parenting, a referral form is  sent to the program Coordinator. The Coordinator will meet with the student to complete a collaborative assessment and provide them a welcome packet.  The packet contains resources for health care, birth control, lactation rights and their student rights and protection under Title IX.

Title IX  protects  students who are pregnant, parenting or who have been pregnant from being excluded from or participating in any part of an educational program. SSHS will partner with community agencies to refer students for comprehensive services and support when needed.  With strategic partnerships, SSHS鈥� goal is to improve the knowledge and skills of adolescent parents to be advocates in their own education, successful parents and have healthy transitions into adulthood.

The Governing Board recognizes that responsibilities related  to marriage, pregnancy, or parenting and related  responsibilities may disrupt a student鈥檚 education and  increase the chance of a student dropping out of school. The  Board therefore desires to support married, pregnant, and  parenting students to continue their education, attain  strong academic and parenting skills, and promote the  healthy development of their children. The district shall not  discriminate against, exclude, or deny any student from any  educational program or activity, including any class or  extracurricular activity, solely on the basis of the student鈥檚  pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of  pregnancy, or related recovery.
