Festivities include carnival games, bounce houses and a movie on a multi-story outdoor screen

Press release

On Friday night, things will be hopping at Rosemont High School 鈥 literally.
That鈥檚 when the high school hosts the second annual 鈥淓ssence of Rosemont,鈥 a fun-packed evening of carnival games, bounce houses, live music and an outdoor movie on an enormous 60-foot-wide screen.
The best part? Admission is free.

The event 鈥 a throwback to old-fashioned block parties 鈥 is designed as a celebration of all the Sacramento City Unified School District schools in the Rosemont area. Expect to see student bands and drum lines playing, cheerleaders turning cartwheels and plenty of food, including slushies, ice cream, hot dogs, nachos and cotton candy. Kids will be amped and full of energy, and not just from the cotton candy: At 鈥淓ssence,鈥 campuses compete for the coveted 鈥淢ost Spirited School鈥 award.

鈥淲e are so proud of our schools and so pleased that the community has rallied to show their support for our students,鈥 says Superintendent Jonathan Raymond. 鈥淭his is a great event for our kids and our parents.鈥
And about that movie鈥he crowd will get to vote on what they want to see. The choices are 鈥淒espicable Me,鈥 鈥淗ow to Train Your Dragon鈥 and 鈥淭oy Story 3.鈥
Will Buzz and Woody win? You鈥檒l have to wait until Friday to find out. Essence of Rosemont begins at 5 p.m. in the school quad. Rosemont High School is located at 9594 Kiefer Blvd.
