Friday is last day to complete survey on what traits are wanted for new Sacramento schools chief

Press release

SACRAMENTO, CA –Sacramento City Unified School District (»ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ) is asking community members to submit their recommendations for what they would like to see in a new superintendent by completing a brief online survey by midnight on Friday, March 17.

The survey may be found at http://www.scusd.edu/superintendent-search along with comments from each of the town halls. The survey is available in English, Spanish, Hmong, Chinese and Russian.

»ÆÉ«ÊÓƵ just completed an ambitious round of seven town halls around the city to gather input from city residents about the district’s strengths, and the district has also posted a survey open to all that takes less than five minutes to complete.

Board of Education members began their search after current Superintendent José Banda announced in January that he would not seek renewal of his three-year contract. March 17 is also the last day to apply for the superintendent’s position. Board members expect to begin interviewing candidates by the end of the month.

Banda was hired in July 2014 to lead the district of 43,000 students and 4,200 employees. Sacramento City Unified is one of the oldest public school districts in California and has seventy-seven K-12 and adult education campuses. Banda’s contract ends June 30.
